Thank you.How do you get protein into vegetarian diet?
By eating food. Any food, aside from junk food an oil,has protein in it. As a vegetarian, you can get it from the milk, cheese, yogurt and eggs that you eat,as well as tofu, beans, nuts, broccoli, tomatoes, green peppers, spinach, turnips, mustard greens, potatoes, yams, eggplant, cucumbers,鈥?watermelon, oranges, peaches, pears, tangeri鈥?rice, millet, barley, wheat germ, oatmeal, quinoa(which is the grain with the most complete protein),and seeds that you eat. There's many more foods that are high in protein and every single food, aside from the above I mentioned, has some amount of protein in it.
It is false information that you have been given that makes you think you need a crazy amount of protein to survive. Most people, especially meat-eater,eat way too much protein,麓which causes liver an dkidney damage. If you're lucky, you pee most of it out,but it does do damage to your body.
Here's some sites to start with. Please,do your own research,do not rely on the people on this site to do it for you. Thankfully, there are some people who will post sites for you to check out,but other than that, there is a lot of ignorant responses often posted on here, including from people who haven't a clue and are just bored and/or very young. This is not a site to be truly educated,it's just for a little information. You should always and I mean ALWAYS,do your own research, educate yourself and not expect others to do it for you.

Remember, this is just a start. You have to take it from here and become an educated vegetarian. It's also important to you can answer all the annoying questions have for you,who only know what their parents taught you. It will keep you from falling for any mis-information someone tries to feed you. Ignorance is not bliss,it's dangerous.
Beans, pulses, dark green leafy vegetables and soya or quorn. If you can do that then you will be healthier than a meat eater. Since you don't have animal fat in your diet you will decrease the chances of having a heart attack. How do you get protein into vegetarian diet?
Soya protein
Any soy product such as tofu, soy beans, soy milk. Nuts, seeds and dairy if you are not vegan. Lentils are nearly 50% protein and go great in soups or cold in salads. How do you get protein into vegetarian diet?
Have a look at what the vegetarians in India eat. They've been doing it for centuries and they're really good at it.
People that tell you that it isn't possible to get enough protein on a vegetarian diet just don't understand nutrition. It isn't their fault because most of it just stems from people being told only animals can provide protein. You do not need to eat fish.
Make beans and lentils your culinary best friend. There is such a wide variety of beans available and they can be cooked in so many different ways. All the while, giving you that valuable protein.
Also, check out quinoa which is can be eaten as a grain but has as much protein as meat. Once you learn how to cook with it you can do anything from a dessert to a rice type side dish with it.
All of that is even before you start to explore the world of meat substitutes. So, no, you do not have to eat fish if you don't want to do so.
My nana always used to tell me that I need to eat fish. No I don't :) Just eat loads of salads, Tofu and Quorn have heaps of protein.
how much protein do we need? The RDA recommends that we take in 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram that we weigh (or about 0.36 grams of protein per pound that we weigh). 40-70 grams per day. in a rich and varied diet you can expect that you're picking up about 10% of your calories from protein. look,
2 pieces of whole wheat toast and peanut butter = 13 grams; cup of yogurt, some almonds and a baked potato = 14 grams; cup of lentil and a cup of grain = 24 grams; cup of soy milk 7 grams. total = 58 grams.
Protein Recommendation for Female Vegan [based on 0.8-1 gram of protein per kilogram body weight for 57.5 kilogram (126 pound) female] = 46-58 grams.
how hard was that?
Note: this is by no means a recomendation for a diet. just an example of how easy it is to maintain a high protein diet. you should of course gets lots of leafy greens. nuts and seeds are very high in protein.
Legumes, like beans and lentils and chickpeas. Nuts and seeds. Eat those things and eat generally healthy stuff like whole grains and veggies and you have nothing to worry about.
Look at these websites with your dad. The first one is run by the mayo clinic and the second is run by a group of medical doctors who are also vegetarians/vegans.

I'm not into vegetarian diets, but your dad is right - you need protein. If you're trying to gain muscle, you need more than the government recommends.
Studies have shown that in order to gain lean muscle mass quickly, you need to eat 1g (or more) of protein per pound of bodyweight each and every day. You can use protein shakes at different points during the day, especially post-workout, to make this number. [see source 1 - there are also protein price comparisons on that link]
Two things you can supplement if you're not hitting your numbers via real food (meat, fish, fowl, nuts, legumes) - soy protein and hemp protein. Check out the links below.
By eating Seitan of course

Cows, chickens, veal. Any of those will do.
Meat provides energy, but mostly of the kind that makes you hyper and arrogant, and egotistical. The wrong kind of energy. Don't worry about losing that...
As for protein, we normally eat too much of that, anyway, and what can't be used for protein is generally converted to fat. Plants have plenty of protein in many combinations... A peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread provides the entire spectrum of protein found in meat.. Beans and rice the rest. The only thing really to watch out for is your vitamin B1 and B6 intake, but that is only if you are the most absolutely strict vegan. If you even remotely drink milk, or eat eggs, you will get plenty of B vitamin. For the absolutely strict vegan, there is Brewer's yeast or Black Strap molasses for your B vitamins.
Kindly remind your father that omnivorous bodybuilders practically LIVE off of dairy and eggs for their main sources of protein, both of which are vegetarian-friendly.
Also remind the gent that all food, except oils, contain protein. Yes, there ARE vegan bodybuilders.
OMG i know how you feel, ive been a veggie for like since i was 7. i used to take protien tablets. you can buy them from places like boots, holland and barrat or any other health stores. they arnt expensive either and you only have to take one a day. Although things like cheese and eggs and milk also contain protien, and also fat so dont eat too much. I know how you feel about animals tho, it seems so harsh that we get to live and stuff while animals like lambs get slaughtered before they have a chance to live. =[ makes me sad too.
