Has anyone changed there dogs diet from animal containing ingredients to a vegetarian diet?

I have been wanting to change my dogs food to a vegan/vegetarian dog food. How was the change and is there a good brand? Thanks!Has anyone changed there dogs diet from animal containing ingredients to a vegetarian diet?
Contrary to popular belief, like humans, dogs are OMNIVORES not carnivores, which means they can eat almost anything. Of course just because you *can* doesn't mean you have to. To get started, there are plenty of commercial veg dog food %26amp; supplements, using freshly packed ingredients with high quality nutrients %26amp; protein, instead of chemical-laden, decaying animal by-products. Find them online %26amp; at health food stores: Evolution http://www.petfoodshop.com/ , Pet Guard, Fat Cat Happy Dog http://www.fatcathappydog.com/, Missing Link.

The best option is to feed them the least processed food as possible. Try adding different foods (blended well), such as raw vegetables %26amp; nuts (soaked in water to soften them then blended). Mix in organic Flax Oil (1/8-1/2 Teaspoon per day/10 lb), for essential healthy fats. Of course soy is one of the best sources of phyto-nutrients %26amp; high quality protein (make sure your dog isn't allergic to it).

To those who think it's natural to feed dogs mainstream commercial dog food, take a look at what you are feeding him/her: euthanized dogs and cats (!), horses, cow %26amp; chicken blood and fecal matter. I use this rule of thumb: If it's so horrible to be labeled "not fit for human consumption," why feed it to your beloved pets? And who can forget the tainted pet food fiasco that led them into agonizing deaths? It is cruel to feed them that crap. The domesticated animals we know %26amp; love have been bred by humans for humans, so they are not living a "natural" life anyways, so it's illogical to assume that feeding them cooked %26amp; canned animal by-products is in any way more "natural" than feeding them a nutrient-rich diet from plant sources. When's the last time you saw a dog grilling burgers on the bbq? So, forget about what your idea of "natural" is, feeding your pets healthy, high quality food with the proper balance of nutrients is what matters, not whether it came from a dead animal.
OMG U KNOW HOW CRUEL THAT IS. IF U DO THAT I WILL COME HUNT U DOWN AND TAKE UR DOG FROM YOU!!!!

its ok for you to be a vegan/vegetarian it was your choice.. dogs live on meat if you take that away from them they will be sure as dead.

EDIT: ok ok sorry that was abit uncalled for, ii just don't think it's right.. sorry :)Has anyone changed there dogs diet from animal containing ingredients to a vegetarian diet?
I'm a vegetarian I dont own a dog I own a cat but I would never replace my cats diet to be vegetarian that would be cruel vegetarians love animals. Animals eating other animals people eating other animals this is the circle of life. The reason I became a vegetarian was because of the cruelty and abuse in the industry not because I think its unnatural. You should not change your dogs diet.
See http://www.peta.org/factsheet/files/Fact鈥?/a>

There's a list of pet food companies at the bottom.

Dogs are omnivores, so just like us they can be perfectly healthy on a vegetarian diet. Trying mixing the veg food in with their old food, and gradually increase the amount of veg food. Evolution Diet is a good brand.

Why on earth would you do such a mean thing to a carnivore? The poor dog will probably wind up malnourished, horribly so. Not only that, but his immune system will suffer thanks to him not getting the nutrients his body desperately needs.

Shame on you. You should have a rabbit, or perhaps a hamster as a pet. They are herbivorous. Please don't do this to the poor dog.
That's CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
Do a google search. Apparently the Vegans have all pooled their money and driven all the studies showing how awful this idea is to the bottom, and all the Vegan Doggy Sites to the top.
Please do not be STUPID!

Dogs are Carnivores!

If God wanted them to eat vegetables he would have done so himself!.

Make your life decisions for yourself. But, do not make such a decision for a helpless dog that is dependent on you for survival.
