For people who feed their dog or cat a vegan/vegetarian diet?

How do you know this is what your animal wants to eat? Shouldnt animals not be forced for our beliefs? For people who feed their dog or cat a vegan/vegetarian diet?
Well, to start with dogs don't care what they eat as long as it's food (they don't even care if it's food!)

As long as they get all the nutrients they need it doesn't matter.

A lot of people feed their dogs these diets because they don't agree with how the animals are kept, not because they believe dogs shouldn't eat meat.

I don't have any problem with a dog eating meat because they are carnivores, unlike humans who are omnivores, but I would prefer to feed our dogs a vegetarian diet because I don't like to think of animals suffering (sadly we can't because we have four dogs weighing over 110kg put together who can't eat wheat and it would cost too much).
Which is precisely what I believe. hence my dogs get raw steaks and cooked chicken while I gnaw on baby carrots.

Edit: lol at the thumbs down. Don't keep carnivores if you can't feed them right. Get grain eaters-cows, horses, goats, rabbits, etc.For people who feed their dog or cat a vegan/vegetarian diet?
I read an article a few years ago about someone who decided their whole family should be vegan, including the cat. The family endured it till the craze wore off. The cat died. Cats are carnivores, they need a proteine called taurine that you can't get in a vegan or vegetarian diet.
I don't think they will agree with you, but that is a very good point. For people who feed their dog or cat a vegan/vegetarian diet?
I make homemade vegan dog treats. I use peanut butter, whole wheat flour, and other things. I use cookie cutters and make them very visually appealing. my dog loves them. If she has the choice between a chicken flavored rawhide or a homemade vegan dog biscuit, she goes for the biscuit every time.
Well, I don't have a vegan dog because my parents didn't want to make her vegan and I was 8 when we got her so yeah. But when I get my own dog, she or he will be vegan.

I've asked many vets and handlers if a dog can be vegan and they've all said as long as they get their nutrients then yes. Cats on the other hand NEED meat. If my dog goes out and kills her meat, then fine she can eat it. But since I'M paying for her food, then she or he eats what I give her.
I feed my dog meat-based food even though I am a vegan. Humans are designed to process plant-based foods best. Dogs are designed to process meat. There are a lot of yucky by-products in dog food, though. Still, I don't have the money to find a super high-scale vegetarian food for my dog, and it's what he likes and is meant to be eating.

We put out a bowl of the old biscuits and a bowl of the vegan Ami biscuits. Both the cats we look after chose Ami.

Even if they didn't like it that much, the 'suffering' they would endure in eating it is nothing compared to the trauma that farm animals are put through all of their lives right up to their bloody deaths. I respect all animals, but how dare you trivialise the suffering of cows, sheep, chickens and pigs by saying their murder means nothing compared to a dog or a cat's preffered brand of food.

"Shouldnt animals not be forced for our beliefs?"

The morality of exploitation (including humans) is beyond belief. If you extend the compassion you show towards cats and dogs to all animals you will realise the same thing.

Also, what do you think your cats or dogs would choose, with their pure hearts, if they understood this? Do you think they'd choose to kill hundreds of animals in their lifetime for something as trivial as food?

Dogs are cats can be put on a healthy vegan diet. It's healthy and doesn't involve murder, so why not?

Supermarket cat food is full of synthetic additives, ingredients which are designed to be addictive, far too much ash and even euthanised cat and dog flesh and downed animal flesh, considered unfit for human consumption. If you care for animals, this is something you should consider, before attacking vegans who want their fuzzy friends to eat a healthy and cruelty-free diet.

You may as well be suggesting that I abuse my cats. It's really b****y rude.

In response to your additional comments:

""Dogs do care what they eat if not givin something else yes they will eat what is handed to them. Put down a ear of corn and a steak and see wich one the dog eats."

This is a straw-man argument. Who always feeds their dog either an ear of corn OR a steak?? I don't know anyone who does either, ever! The vast majority of people buy wet, packaged or tinned food from the supermarkets, the vege and vegan equivalents of which taste much the same.
