I know a veggie diet has lots of health benifits but what are the disads and how do I combat them?
Thankies ^^Which ascepts of a vegetarian diet may be bad for your health?
You'll get a lot of misinformed people likely saying lack of protein %26amp; iron, but don't believe that.
The average diet in America contains excess proteins. You can easily get all the protein you need from eating beans and rice a few times a week, as together, they form a complete protein.
Oats, soy %26amp; lentils provide significantly higher amounts of iron than meat. You would have to focus your meat eating on liver to get larger amounts of iron, so that argument is bogus too. (see link 1 if you like)
The biggest issue is with people who just cut out the meat from their diet but don't eat healthy. Meaning the vegetarian who lives off french fries and bean burritos.
Those people will be just as unhealthy as anyone else who has a poor diet.
Of course cutting out meat eliminates large amounts of cholesterol from your diet (unless you go vegan you will still get some from dairy products), large amounts of saturated fat, and of course meat products contain almost no fiber, which you would get by adding whole grains to your diet.
The vitamin E argument mentioned below is bogus too (see link #2). The best sources for that are from nuts and seeds.
Not eating meat can lead to a deficiency in iron, so you will probably need some sort of iron dietary supplementWhich ascepts of a vegetarian diet may be bad for your health?
the fact that u are not getting protein from chicken, or fish and meat and the nutrients ur body needs to grow and stay healthy
The part where you dont eat meat and get all the iron and goodness from it.Which ascepts of a vegetarian diet may be bad for your health?
I would say that, as a vegetarian, one aspect that may be detrimental is the lack of protein. To combat this, eat protein rich foods like beans, peanut butter, etc.
Hey Google,
I am vegetarian too. So we r sailing in the same boat.
The only bad thing about Vegetarian food is that it does not contain enough amount of protiens and vitamin E, unfortunately.
U will find these nutrients in a large quantity in meats, eggs, fishes etc.
But we can cope up with it by eating beans, peas, bengal grams, red grams and black grams.
For protiens, SOYABEANS are the most important lentils.
Not eating meat can make you have a lack of protein or iron.
Make sure you make up for it.
Good on you. Try to avoid dairy and be careful with soy products. But don't think that limits you. Try different Chinese, Asian, Indian, etc dishes, with all different vegies. Eat a varied diet. Remember to cook lots of grains and legumes too. Brown rice and lentils cooked together and flavoured make a complete protein. There's tons of great recipes and food out there to try. =)
