The only dietary restriction I was given following my transplant was to keep my diet low sodium. So, I believe that a vegetarian diet would be ok.Is a vegetarian diet ok for someone who has a kidney transplant?
You can't get rid of carbs, only reduce them. Most foods have at least some carbs. The problem is you're trying to eliminate too many things here. To help with the weight gain, a lower-carb eating plan will help you lose a little and easily maintain your weight - less than 100-120g/day. But it's tough to achieve that without meat/fish, which has no carb and is therefore a great way to keep your carbs low. But you can substitute tofu and eggs. Just watch out for the veggie trap of eating too many potatoes, pasta, rice, and bread because they're cheap and available. Is a vegetarian diet ok for someone who has a kidney transplant?
1. All plant derived foods are CARBOHYDRATES!!

2. Getting rid of the carbs from your diet means not eating anything at all since I am guessing you are on a protein restrictive food plan. You get water and air!

3. Talk to your medical team about your needs. They have better answers than a bunch of teenagers on this forum.
