Is there such thing as a vegetarian atkins diet?

Now I know this sounds a bit strange, but is it possible to be vegetarian and follow some sort of atkins diet, if im right the atkins diet means no carbs and all protein. What do you all think? Is there such thing as a vegetarian atkins diet?
There are vegetarian low carbers, it is harder %26amp; more limited to find protein sources that are low carb, if you don't eat eggs or dairy. I've included a link to a vegetarian low carb forum. Low carb is all about health.

Although it is completely possible to live on a fat/protein only diet for long term (as proven by research done in a hospital setting) it becomes boring fairly quickly. Luckily many, many vegetables and some fruits, nuts and seeds are low in carbs and greatly expand the diet. Most long term low carbers eat as many, if not more non starchy vegetables than vegetarians.

Detractors of the high fat, high protein Atkins diet claim that Dr. Dean Ornish's low-fat vegetarian diet as the optimal diet. I believe that Atkins %26amp; Ornish's plans are not that incompatible, they both promote ultimate health as their goal. They both agree that the major problem occurs when you mix carbs with fat. They both agree that highly refined non nutritional carbs with man made fats (trans fats, hydrogenated fats) in mass quantities produces the current obesity/health degradation epidemic that is of global concern.

Ultimately, your diet needs to be what can you live with? I personally wouldn't be happy living without meat, fat, cheese. I like not having calorie restrictions. It's easier for me to do without than to do "in moderation".Is there such thing as a vegetarian atkins diet?
Yes, you are right. Many people believe that if you follow the Atkins diet you only eat meat. It is really a low carb diet. You can eat most vegetables. A chef salad is a suggested meal on the Atkins diet.Is there such thing as a vegetarian atkins diet?
Nope. You really can't do vegetarian atkins. There was a woman on here talking about how she was doing atkins and not losing weight so I was trying to narrow down what the problem is by asking her questions about her diet and all that. Finally it came out that she was trying to do a vegetarian version of atkins and eating vegetables, cheese, tofu, and nuts. She had been on it for a month and a half and only lose 1 pound. There's just no way to get your carbs down low enough and still get enough calories while eating vegetarian. I mean, cheese is low in carbs, but no one should eat that much cheese, lol.

Have you considered a raw food diet? People lose weight like crazy on raw food diets. I try to eat as much raw food as I can, but I haven't gotten all the way there as to say I'm a raw foodist. But I did eat mostly raw for a week and I lose 6 pounds. It works as fast at Atkins and is vegetarian. Plus it's mostly gluten free, which I think everyone should try at least once in their life. Anyway, let me know if you have any questions!
