I am an Indian and a vegetarian (no eggs). I am starting to see some muscle mass develop, notable on my biceps but perhaps, my diet isnt good enough for all the workout I do.
I take a bowl of lentils (dal) after workout. Is this good enough? What is a good vegetarian diet for muscle building?
You should take protein rich diet to develop your muscles along with proper excercise. For vegetarian people all sorts of dal, sprouts are the only source of proteins beside milk and milk products. Proteins are heavy to digest so be careful also not to make your stomach upset.
vegatarian diet is best for body building.good source of carbs.just after your workout you should eat some thing high in sugar because after exercise your body is low in glycogen levels.but during any other time of the day sugar i really bad for you.so half an hour after you workout eat fast digesting carbohydrates like potatoes, white rice, sports drink, catalopeetc .these carbohydrates are high in sugar.remember don't eat them any other time because they can make you fat.just after exercise if you eat fast digesting carbohydrates they help you recover and decreases cortisol.cortisol is a stress harmone . when you exercise intense your cortisol levels go high which is bad for you.if your cortisol levels are high them automatically your testosterone levels go down.we need testosterone.just after exercise eat high sugar carbohydrates but not to much.one potato or a bowl of rice.by doing this you are going to get your lost energy back.rest of the day eat lentils, bananas, appler, carrots, brown rice etc.

you want to eat foods high in protein like quinoa (keen-wah) this grain is the highest in protein. You may even try hemp seed powder in shakes.
Dried beans such as pintos and nuts are plant protiens.
What ever u eat ...must have proteins in them.
