Vegetarianism is BAD for you, especially if you are female. The only complete proteins in the plant kingdom come from legumes, more specifically, soy. Soy increases estrogen, estrogen increases fat storage...women already have alot of estrogen, why add?
Due to evolution, we are built to eat animal AND plant protein, willingly avoiding one is just stupid.
The best diet is not a fad diet. It is just being balanced. Eat 2200-2500 calories a day split into 6 meals/snacks. Try to eat in a ratio of 40/30/30:carbs/protein/fat, respectively. And not being able to afford a gym membership is no excuse. Go run and look up body weight circuit.
It depends on what you eat. I went vegetarian a year ago - and I was hardcore meat eater, and I didn't lose anything. I didn't need to either, so that could have been a factor. You can lose or gain eating ANYTHING. For example, if you go veggie, and replace meat with cheese products, you're going to gain weight. At the end of the day, it's all about caloric intake. Eat 250 less calories and a day, and do some exercises to burn 250 cals = 500 cals less per day = 1lb of fat loss per week.Does the vegetarian diet actually work?
Eating a healthy vegetarian diet does help to maintain a normal body weight. But note that I said "healthy vegetarian diet". A lot of vegetarians eat junk food and as long as they don;t eat meat, they think they're healthy. They're not. Try eating mostly green vegetables and lean meats (egg whites, tofu, if you don;t want to eat any meat or fish).
Three steps that have really helped me are dieting, exercising, and the correct weight loss supplement for losing weight. Focus on those three things and you will lose weight considerably. I exercise 30 mins a day along with taking Proactol, a natural weight loss supplement that I saved money on at theweightlossplace.com
Good luck and stay focused = )Does the vegetarian diet actually work?
EAting a strictly vegetarian diet is an incredibly detailed and devoted thing to accomplish. We are so used to our burgers and ribs that it can be HUGELY hard to give up meat completely.
Plus there are some proteins which cannot be gotten from only plant sources, that's why man has eaten meat, because it has such a high protein content, it helps man to endure thru the hard winters in ancient days.
What I would suggest is to try going slowly at first. If you eat lots of meat, try cutting back. Or eat meat only when it's prepared well, like at Outback or a steak house. Try cutting out fast food burgers first.
It's hard---I luv BK, oh, that flame broiling....I can taste it now. But I gave up eating fast food burgers, and I feel much better. But I've developed a taste for good steak, and my body loves it!! It gets much better energy from it.
At the same time, try eating better vegetables. Frozen veggies are so easy to use nowadays, and they're so good!! The nutrition is also quite good. Fresh is nice if you can get it, but don't be afraid of using frozen vegetables. I've been very astounded many times when using even cheap microwave dinners, at how excellent and fresh the veggies are, because the technology has improved so greatly to keep them fresh once cooked.
So you can do a few things like cutting out fast food burgers and eating more fresh and steamed vegetables to help your diet adjust without creating problems that make you go crashing back into a McDonald's!! It also lets your body get used to the changes in diet, so it becomes more natural. Then also try eating larger dishes of veggies. If there's some that you always like, fill upon them. I have lost weight by eating nothing but veggies for breakfast. Nothing. But you've got to eat a huge amt, because your body then processes all the veggies and you'd get quite hungry before lunch if you don't have enough inside you to occupy the body's needs. It doesn't really give you lots of energy like OJ can, but some veggies do have sugars in them to help out that way.
One thing you might consider is cutting out foods with lots of high fructose corn syrup in it. I can't seem to lose weight like I want, and that might be the culprit. High fructose corn syrup is a very cheap and easy-to-use sweetener. But it is used in almost everything. READ LABELS, to find out.
