I recently started on a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet. I feel like now everything I eat is pure carbohydrates (ie pasta, bread, cereal) Im very nervous if I continue like this I will gain a lot of weight. So what are some foods I can eat as main courses that are not so carb focused?Im worried about eating too many carbs on a vegetarian diet?
It's not only weight, it's that carbs don't give you much protein. You need to eat at least 1/2 your body weight in protein grams every day just to maintain normal health.
Also, a carb/grain/simple sugar diet will raise your triglycerides so you might want to keep tabs on your cholesterol levels. Triglycerides in the blood are the direct result of carbohydrates being converted by insulin. These triglycerides do not come directly from dietary fats. They are made in the liver from any excess sugars which have not been used for energy.
Try adding some beans, nuts, and seeds and don't overdue the soy products or you'll end up with a nasty hormone imbalance.Im worried about eating too many carbs on a vegetarian diet?
Try adding more green and fibrous veggies. The water and fiber fill you up with less carbs.
Think carrots, broccoli, zucchini ..and greens like string beans, lettuce and spinach.
Gourds like pumpkin and squash have carbs but less than the pasta and cereal and they fill you up faster because of their fiber and water content.Im worried about eating too many carbs on a vegetarian diet?
You wont gain weight if you eat the proper amount of calories a day. Being vegetarian you likely eat very healthy. You can still have eggs and dairy on a lacto-ovo diet and thats where you can get your protien.
