How to maintain a strictly vegetarian diet with uncooperative parents?

I tried explaining that it's my decision, that I personally do not like eating meat for moral reasons. I even keep a fairly good diet without scrimping--I'm getting enough protein, I've felt better than before, but my parents are continually trying to sneak meat into my food without telling me to the point that I have to check everything that I eat. Is there any way of stopping this? It's been three months and I'm getting sick of it.How to maintain a strictly vegetarian diet with uncooperative parents?
i can't see why you can't live like a vegetarian.. don't they have fruits and veggies in the household?

i've been finding this as the case and i find it disturbing..

there should be a law.. where if the diet program is poor that the parents should be monitored...

engaging any child in malnutrition is abuse... if we look down upon it in other countries why do we promote it?

each household should have a heavy duty fruits and veggies regiment.. it's suppose to be heavy in the first place...

what happened to the 5/5?

i've been hearing excuses like: i am not cooking two meals..

first of all i'd ask.. and with a councilor and a social worker present... WHY NOT? isn't there any fruits and veggies here?

why not do we have this?

then point out to them the proper diet plan that is suppose to be part of every house hold...

then monitor them... and if there's any issue... well.. we'd take it up with the parents, children and a social worker and a dietitian.

i love how vegetables have been phased out then these damned parents have the nerve to complain that the child is not eating right?

huh?

obesity doesn't happen overnight... i see there's a huge avoidance going on with parenting now days...

um.. your parents doing this onto you is abuse.

good thing i'm not there.. meat is a nasty element.. 90% of the meats are hormone packed chemical nightmares..

most of us can't digest that GARBAGE... along with dairy.

why not go to a friends house that eats more properly... then later discuss this issue.

or find a friend who is vegetarian and hang out with them more... and if the parents start up.... talk to them about how this friend's parents are councillors.

pushing a diet that's poor and causing chronic diseases and obesity should be looked at... parents are getting worse and worse.. they're not parents most are just turning out to be people who didn't practice safe sex and thus are proving it in cases like this.
Move out and support your own diet. How to maintain a strictly vegetarian diet with uncooperative parents?
Cook your own meals
About all you can do is to refuse to eat anything that isn't prepared by you. Don't leave your plate unattended if they are adding things while your not looking. How to maintain a strictly vegetarian diet with uncooperative parents?
that's really annoying, you need to tell them something that will really make them listen, like ask them how they'd like it if you completely didn't respect their beliefs (think of something they believe in or do, like some habit they have that is a way of life)
You should ask your parents to go to the doctor/nutritionist with you and explain a healthy vegetarian diet.

You also should contribute to meals-both financially and in preperation as your choice may inconvienence your family's typical meals and budget.

If you expect to sit down at the table without contributing to the process so that they have been able to "sneak" meat into your food, you are to blame. Spend time in the kitchen and with whichever parent is cooking. Offer to make a meal or two a week- and make it a friendly one, like spaghetti with marinara, a big salad, and french bread. Give them the option of some meatballs for the rest of the family if they are the "meat with every meal "type.
Sorry dear, it is your parents house. In Rome you do like the Romans do. Just don't eat the meat when it is served, but don't expect a replacement.

Peace.

P.S. The only solution is, move out.
wow... i hate it when parents are ignorant like that (no offence, seriously)... they think theyre doing the "right thing" by making your food... honestly, the only way you can not eat meat, is make your own food, all the time, even if they swear they didnt put anything in it... vegetarian food is really easy to cook, so it'll be a piece of cake
You explain that you are getting a job. Then you buy and cook your own meals with your money and clean up the mess after you have eaten. Then maybe your family will support you. Until then you eat what is put before you by the people that are providing for you.
I can't believe they would sneak meat into your food, my daughter would disown me if I did that. she made your choice at 8 years old, it was hard at first to support her, after about a year, I realized she was serious about it. Shes now 17, she has added eggs (cage free, of course) to her diet, which makes me happy. But there are plenty of great foods you can eat, just today I had the Morningstar Veggie Scramble, it was really food.
They'll realise eventually. I had similar parents, AND lovely siblings who would argue with me all the time about vegetarianism

Maybe you should cook some nice veggie meals for all of you, then theyll benefit too?
I have the same situation at my house!

If you are old enough, start cooking your own meals, I did it and it ended with them stealing some of my food ;) cuz it was so tasty!
