How to lose weight with a vegetarian diet?

I became a vegetarian for 2 reasons. One to stop animal slaughter, the other to trim wieght. Please name and list an orderly vegetarian diet that I can lose weight off of. Name specific foods, excercises, deadlines....etc that I will have to abide by to trim my weight. Also about when will the results show? How to lose weight with a vegetarian diet?

"Firstly, make sure you contact your doctor to make sure losing weight is appropriate for you."

Since when is losing weight not appropriate for anyone?!?

"To lose weight, you need to consume fewer calories than you burn. If you are someone like Michael Phelps (Olympic swimmer) and burn massive quantities of calories, you can eat chocolate cake and crap foods and still lose weight."

You know I've been thinking about this lately and is it truly consuming less than you burn or does what you eat play into this some how? Like for instance is 2000 calories of fruits, veggies and whole grains the same as 2000 calories of Microwave dinner, breakfast cereals and cheese?

But ya if you want to really lose alot of weight eat mostly whole unrefined foods that don't have added sugar (naturally occurring sweetness is ok!!!) and you will be pretty hard pressed to actually gain weight!! If there is more than 20 ingredients in something don't eat it, if you can't pronounce half the crap don't eat it, if most of the ingredients sound like something from chemistry class don't eat it.How to lose weight with a vegetarian diet?
Eat organic vegetables and fruits for breakfast like apples, no-fat yogurt (I like Yoplait lite no fat), tomatoes, carrots, and peppers.

Don鈥檛 depend upon on only fat burning diet supplements. Fat Burners are a great way to lose weight fast, but you should compliment this with a good diet program and exercise to maximize results!
Here鈥檚 a pop quiz. Escalators help us to: 1.Move up and down faster 2. Gain weight 3. Stand stupidly as they move up and down 4 Look down at other people when you are going down 5. Look up to others when we are going up you have to pick the correct answer from the 5 alternatives given. You can see for your self that all the options are in a way correct. So the next time you travel on an escalator, don鈥檛 just stand there鈥limb up or down along with it. (Or better yet, take the stairs.)How to lose weight with a vegetarian diet?

Typically, it's easier to lose weight on a veg diet because fruits, veggies, grains, and beans typically have fewer calories. This is because, especially with fruits and veggies, they are primarily water and fiber. That being said, just because you aren't eating meat, doesn't guarantee you will lose weight. If you sub the meat with lots of cheese, eggs, and processed foods, then you could even gain weight.

I would advise you try to eat mostly whole, plant foods. Avoid eating processed foods like Boca burgers, etc. Try not to eat too much cheese and eggs. Exercise. That doesn't necessarily mean you have to run every day if you don't want to, but find active things you like to do. I like to jog with my dog in the mornings and do pilates at a studio twice a week. If you like to play soccer, join a recreational league. If you like structured classes, join a gym or find a place to yoga.

Try to stick with it for a month. Most people start noticing a difference by then. At that point you can reassess.

I like certain cookbooks and food sites to get ideas. Cookbooks you can borrow from the library first to avoid spending money on items you never use. My favs:

Veganomicon - vegan but no processed, fake items.

Vegetarian Sandwiches - watch the cheese though

Hope that helps!

EDIT: If you're someone who has an eating disorder who thinks you need to lose weight when you don't, then losing weight may not be appropriate. I could have phrased it better, but also consulting a doctor before beginning any exercise plan to avoid any possible physical injury.

From a weight loss perspective, 2000 calories from fruit/veggies is the same as 2000 calories of fast food. However, from a nutrient and "fullness" perspective, there are more nutrients in more natural foods and 2000 calories of fruits is a lot more food than 2000 calories from junk food. This is similar to 200 lbs of bricks compared to 200 lbs of cotton balls.
How about changing your diet.

1. No soda

2. No caffiene

3. No Diet Soda or Sugar Free stuff.. ( your body gets all confused)

4. Eat a good breakfast, lil snack, lunch, light dinner

5. No heavy meals past 6PM you don't want a lot of food in your belly when you're sleeping.

6. No TV Get outside and PLAY

7. Play a sport and feel challenged

8. Try http://www.weightlossdisc.com it workd i tried it.
If there is a pool nearby go for swims as often as you can, swimming is one of the best exercises. Water has a lot of advantages. And if nothing else, a cool dip in a pool is a wonderful stress reliever.
Being bored at home, especially in the evening becomes a cause of overeating, so keep yourself busy by meeting friends or new people, joining clubs, going to free public events. Do not just sit on the couch all the time.
To lose weight, eat less. becoming a vegetarian is admirable but it is not a reducing diet
The same way you would lose weight any other way. Choose healthy foods, lower your calorie intake and exercise.
consult your medical doctor(s)
stick to fruit bars
