Can a vegetarian diet help depression?

Obviously a vegetarian diet can't cure depression, but I've been wondering if it could help even just a little. My friend told me that her therapist said it could, and I want some opinions. Can a vegetarian diet help depression?
If anything a vegetarian diet could make any depression worse.

Humans are omniverous and our bodies are designed to work best with a diet of both meat and vegetables.

Many vegetarians are very low in many vitamins and minerals and without supliments in the form of pills etc would not be as well as they could be on a proper diet.
Generally vegetarians must take extra care to get proper nutrition, leading to overall better health which does greatly help depression!

Certain supplements, such as SAM-e may help, as long as you do not suffer from bipolar disorder. SAM-e is a naturally occurring substance in the body and tablets or pills are just supplements, like taking an iron pill. SAM-e is linked to joints and mood and had a great impact for me.

Also, many people have had great success with acupuncture for depression. Can a vegetarian diet help depression?
Not neccessarily Vegan diets but just adding lots of veggies and fruits can indeed help. When you add these things it boosts your body with different vitamins and such and having a healthier body makes you feel healthier. Don't listen to the above comment she is wrong. I have depression and when I eat lots of bad foods and stray away from veggies and fruits I get very down. Exercise can also help keep depression at bay.
If you are depressed eat whatever will make you happy. Better yet eat plenty of chocolates, it has an antidepresant contents. You can also exercise, it gives a natural high without the use of medicines. Can a vegetarian diet help depression?
